Admissions Requirements and Considerations:
Admissions professionals review your application individually and evaluate how well your goals and strengths match our educational mission. Most of our incoming freshmen fit the following profile:

                Strong B average in high school

                Rigorous college prep curriculum including Advanced Placement and Honors courses

                Ranking in top 50 percent of high school class

                SAT REASONING score of at least 1050 (combined Critical Reading and Math Sections), or
ACT with Writing score of 22 and above

                Extra-curricular activities in school and the community, including athletics participation

                Honors, awards and special talents and skills

                Travel and other experiences that support academic achievement

In order to be considered for admission, all applicants must fulfill North Carolina’s Minimum Course Requirements:

          High school diploma from a regionally accredited secondary school

          Four units of college preparatory English

          Four units of mathematics including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and a class beyond Algebra II

          Three units of science including one unit of biological science, one unit of physical science and one laboratory course

          Two units of social studies, including one unit of United States history

          Two units of a foreign language (recommended one unit taken in the 12th grade)

Scholarship Application Deadlines:
Laurels Scholarship:
To be considered for the Laurels Scholarship, students must submit a completed application, including official transcripts and standardized test scores by November 15, 2008.  There is no separate application required.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship:
The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is a 4-year $26,000 scholarship for North Carolina high school seniors who plan a career in teaching.  Established in 1986 by the General Assembly, the scholarship covers most of the cost of tuition, fees, books, and several summer enrichment programs.  In exchange for this scholarship, Teaching Fellows must teach for four years in the state's public schools.
