National Parents Council

The National Parents Council serves as the leadership board of the Parents Association. 

Its mission is to increase and sustain parent involvement in the life of UNC Asheville and to work in partnership with the administration in advancing the mission of the University.

The purpose of the Council is to enhance the UNC Asheville student experience by providing advice and counsel on issues of concern to our students and their families.

The goals of the National Parents Council are to:

• Facilitate communication among parents and between parents and the University through parent newsletters and parent web site

• Support the Parents Fund and actively work to increase the financial resources available from other parents in support of the University's needs and initiatives that directly and immediately benefit students.

• Assist with student recruitment efforts by attending or coordinating other parents' attendance at college fairs, open houses on the University campus, and hosting and/or attending regional receptions for accepted students and parents.

• Provide counsel and coordination with interested parents in area of career advising, mentoring, and internships.

Responsibilities of Parents Council Members:

• Attendance at Council meetings (meet once each fall and spring semesters)
   
• Volunteer as appropriate at parent-related events such as Family Weekend or Summit orientation
   
• Review applications for Parents Fund grants and make recommendations for funding
   
• Make a personal gift to the Parents Fund.
