The
University of North Carolina at Asheville Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit
corporation whose fundamental purpose is to secure, manage and distribute
private support to enhance the growth and development of the University of North
Carolina at Asheville. In receiving the majority of charitable contributions for UNC
Asheville, the Foundation enriches and enhances the academic quality and
reputation of the University.
Under the leadership of its independent Board of
Directors, the UNC Asheville Foundation receives gifts on behalf of the University,
solicits donations, manages assets and distributes monies in accordance with
prescribed procedures. The Foundation exists solely for the educational support
of UNC Asheville, but operates independently from the University under its own
tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status.
During the past
decade, assets have increased seven-fold and now total over $13 million.
