UNC Asheville Information Technology
Services
Information Technology Services (ITS) is tasked with providing computing and networking services to the UNC Asheville community, specifically our students, faculty and staff. The organization reports directly to the Chief of Staff.
The ITS Help Desk should be your first point of contact for technical assistance and may be contacted by calling (828) 251-6445 or by sending an email to helpdesk@unca.edu. While classes are in session during fall and spring semesters, the ITS Help Desk is staffed during normal hours of operation.
The ITS Service Request System and online Knowledge Base are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services allow you to request assistance from ITS via a simple web form, access a Frequently Asked Questions list, and browse commonly requested "How-to" articles. Service requests placed via the web will be responded to by ITS staff during normal operating hours.
Normal ITS staff hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The Open Use computer lab is staffed by student Lab Assistants during all operating hours, please see the Open Use Computer Lab page for details.
The ITS Business Services Office phone number is (828) 251-6404 and the fax number is (828) 251-6041. The ITS Business Services Office is located in RBH013 and most staff offices are located on the ground floor of Robinson Hall, with User Services also being located in Lipinsky Hall and Ramsey Library.
User Services provides user desktop support for the campus and is the first line of assistance most faculty, staff and students will use. The AIS division coordinates the acquisition and maintenance of central databases, ensures data access security, provides analytical services to university departments and is in charge of our central software systems, including database web applications support. The Systems and Network division is responsible for system programming, central computing resources and the design and maintenance of the campus network infrastructure.
For students, we provide a comprehensive computing support environment whose key components are our residence hall network, RESNET, and our widely available computer labs. Check the Student Computing links to the left for more information.
