Dr. David Wilken
As a trombonist Dr. Wilken has a background performing in a wide variety of ensembles and styles. Some of the groups he has performed with recently include the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, the Hendsonville Symphony Orchestra, Guy Lombardo's Royal Mounted Canadians, and the Temptations. He has also performed with such notable jazz musicians as Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Byron Stripling, Frank Mantooth, and Tom "Bones" Malone. Dr. Wilken has studied trombone from Doug Elliott, Tom Streeter, John Seidel, and Paul McKee and composition from Frank Mantooth, Paul McKee, and David Vayo. In addition to his trombone playing Dr. Wilken also remains active as a composer and arranger. The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra has performed and recorded many charts by Dr. Wilken, as have numerous high school and college jazz ensembles across the country.
