Psi Chi is a national honor society in psychology, the only one of its kind. The UNCA Psychology Department has had a chapter of Psi Chi since 1975. In fact, we recently received a certificate from Psi Chi's national headquarters honoring the 25th anniversary of the UNCA chapter.

Our chapter of Psi Chi also serves as UNCA's Psychology Club. Any student who is interested in psychology may join the Psychology Club and become an "associate member" of Psi Chi. To become a "member" of Psi Chi, and be registered with the national organization, the student must:
What Psi Chi does depends largely on the interests of its members and everything Psi Chi sponsors is open to all members of the UNCA community. Psi Chi regularly hosts two initiation parties each year, one at the end of each semester, and also schedules "brown bag" lunchtime talks on topics of interest to psychology students. Recent brown bags have focused on graduate study in psychology, post-BA employment in psychology, and selected topics in the areas of social/personality psychology and psychological disorders. Psi Chi members also have participated in many community service activities including fund-raising for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the UNCA Alumni Phonathon, and UNCA Greenfest.
For information and application materials, please contact either of the Psi Chi faculty advisors, Dr. Laughon (laughon@unca.edu) or Dr. Bruce (wbruce@unca.edu).
