University of Malta
Established in 1592, the University of Malta is the oldest university
in the Commonwealth outside the United Kingdom and is Malta's only
university. The present campus, opened in 1968, has recently been greatly
extended to include theater-type lecture rooms and science, language and
computer laboratories. The sports complex includes an Olympic-sized
swimming pool and separate diving pool, a football ground, tennis courts,
and a track. Total enrollment: 8,000 students.
